8th Shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Birth name: Nobu Third daughter of Mitsusada, the second head of the Kii branch of the Tokugawa family. Acceded to domain lord and then, upon the death of Ietsugu, to shogun. Regarded as the greatest shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate.
